I have started a new book!

Misty recommended it on her blog. Same Kind of Different as Me by Ron Hall and Denver Moore. I thought that it sounded like a great book! WELL, apparently I thought so too when I had purchased it over a year ago after Hayden was born. I found it last week in my bedside table and had forgotten all about it. When I was cleaning last week and saw it I thought well I guess this will be my next book. It was one of those purchases when I just randomly picked something off the shelf. I barely remember starting it. But now that someone has recommended it to me I am plunging right in! So far it is a GREAT book! It is an autobiography ( i was going to put autobiographies…b/c it has two authors, I am not sure how to say that right) HA!
Yesterday, I took it to the Y with me to read while I was working out. Jason was doing a spin class. I finished my workout a little before him so I sat down on the sofa while I waited. There was a man sitting on the sofa right next to me. I leaned back, pull down my ball cap and this is the part that I read next…
I kept an eye on the boy with the rope, and when he lashed it to his saddle, I knowed what was comin and got real scared. With both hands, I reached up to try to get the rope loose. That’s when they snapped their reins and took off just a-laughin.
The horses trotted at first, goin slow enough for me to run. I was stumblin along behind, my hands still graspin at the noose and me trying to keep my feet under me. The horses was only maybe ten feet in front of me, and I could hear their feet beatin the dirt. The dust stung my eyes. I could taste it.
Then I heard a whoop and a holler. My feet flew out from under me and I crashed down in the dirt, my knees and elbows skiddin down the road. The horses pounded and pounded and I held on to the noose like a steerin wheel, tryin to pry my fingers inside of it to keep the noose from closin in tighter. The dirt was blindin me and chokin me. My shirtsleeves and the knees of my britches tore away, then my skin peeled back like a rabbit ready for the skillet. I couldn’t hear no more laughin, just the terrible thunder of them horses draggin me down to die.
The tears were welling up in my eyes sitting on that sofa at the Y. I pulled my hat a little lower and pressed on.
This book is an amazing story of two men who lived very different lives. I haven’t finished it yet but I know that it is going to be good…as it has been already. I have learned so much about history in this book…things that I don’t like and things that I am amazed by. When you are ready for your next book check this one out. I think it will be worth your time.
That sounds like a great one! I might have to get this one next. I am trying to get back into “The Lovely Bones” since Court recommended it. I like you started it before Connor was born and never finished it. I will let you know!
Wow this sounds like a good book- pretty intense.

I just finished that book today. I have never cried over a book in my life until I read this. It is a truly amazing story. I also learned so many things from Denver. He is a incredibly strong individual, and Ron and his wife were truly blessed to make friend out of him.
I also encourage people to read this book. Fantastic.
