Part 2:
Hayden slept a lot on the way home from Atlanta which allowed for me to finish this book. I didn’t really know what I was getting into. I should have known that something sad was going to happen when I saw the picture in the back of the book. It is a picture of Ron Hall’s wife and says, “You fought the good fight and kept the faith.” Ron Hall is one of the men in the story and also one of the authors. The other is Denver Moore. Ron’s wife is Debbie and she was instrumental in bringing the two men together. Now you know all the main people…Ron and Debbie and Denver!
I don’t want to spoil any of the story for you. So I will just say that it really made me want to live like every day could be my last. Not in a sad way but in a victorious way! Whether I am healthy or sick! It really made me think about how my time is spent and if I am listening to God intently enough to follow his will for me. It made me want to scrapbook and if you read the book you will understand why. I have never had that desire before but I do now!
Here’s some quotes from the latter part of the book that I love:
Denver- “People think they’re in control, but they ain’t. The truth is, that which must befall thee must befall thee. And that which must pass thee by must pass thee by.”
Denver- “I don’t care what no doctors say, Miss Debbie ain’t goin nowhere until she finished the work here on earth that God gave her to do. You can take that to the bank.”
Ron- “I remembered what C. S. Lewis said of the clash between grief and faith: ‘The tortures occur,’ he wrote. ‘If they are unnecessary, then there is no God, or a bad one. If there is a good God, then these tortures are necessary for no even moderately good Being could possibly inflict or permit them if they weren’t.”
Denver- “But I found out everybody’s different- the same kind of different as me. We’re all just regular folks walkin down the road God done set in front of us. The truth about it is, whether we is rich or poor or somethin in between, this earth ain’t no final restin place. So in a way, we all is homeless- just workin our way toward home.”
I think you have convinced me to read this book!
