After 5 days of our TV coming on around 10:30 at night I realized something had to be going on. Hayden had turned on the TV alarm. Good to know! I didn’t even know that it had an alarm. Does anyone use the TV to wake them up? Or does anyone use it so it comes on every morning? Just wondering if that feature is ever used on a TV. HUH.
Another thing I have been wondering about. DO you think there could be a ministry opportunity to pluck eyebrows? I just got a FaceBook message from my friend Angel saying that she needs me to do hers again. I plucked her eyebrows while we were at Beach Reach together. She was sick and lounging around. We said that it looked like she was on a hospital bed…the linens there were similar to a hospital’s. And there I was plucking her brows. So it got me thinking, “I wonder if people need some help with their eyebrows when they are sick in the hospital or nursing home.” Clean brows always make you feel better. AND we could talk while I pluck. HMM…let me know if you need yours done…hospital or not. It is one of my favorite things to do. In case you need a reference…
Ok, ok, these are my eyebrows and they need to be trimmed a little. But you should have seen the almost uni-brow I had in high school. I mean really, MOM, you should have told me.
Anyways, eyebrows do it for me. For some it would be nails or hair. But when I have freshly plucked eyebrows I feel wonderful!

That cracks me up! I am so bad a plucking my eyebrows now that I have two kids. I prefer a wax over painful plucking as well!
oh yeah, i forgot to talk about waxing…i’ve yet to have that done. i can’t get to the stage where they are long enough to do that. the plucker in me gets impatient. you are my hero, Bargain Shopper Lady! everyone, check out her blog!!
I am with you Carrie. I always feel so much better after getting my eyebrows down.
I think you are on to something about the ministry- you would definitely have a captive audience and in the process make some people feel a little better who are in the hospital or nursing homes while sharing your testimony.
Oh Carrie – would you do my eyebrows??? I need some help. I don’t really know what they are suppose to look like b/c I don’t pay much attention to eyebrows. . . but I know that mine could use a little help. I knew it was bad when one day, my friend that sells Mary Kay, was trying to help me with a new lip color and she looked at my eyebrows and said, “Girl. . . I have got to get my tweezers.” She took out her tweezers and jumped across the table to “do” my eyebrows. They must have been really bad. I wasn’t even there for my eyes. . .but they got her attention. Thankfully, that was several years ago, but if I saw her today, she’d probably want to pluck away. So, I’m up for a good eyebrow plucking should you be in the mood!!
I can’t believe you all are talking about this.
Jason, I’m with you, and it’s all my fault in high school that Carrie had a uni-brow, really Carrie, I could hardly find you when you were in high school, much less analyze your brows.
Luv,
Mom
Carrie, I have so many memories of you sitting at your drafting table plucking away! You brows always look very tidy! I dont think mine are shaped right, you might need to help me on that one. I would never have thought about that for a ministry, that is a GREAT idea!
About the TV alarm… I actually used it when we had it on an old one. I set it to turn off when I fell asleep at night. I liked to watch TV before bed, but that ceased when I got married. It keeps Brad awake so it stopped when I got married. Oh, how I miss my TV alarm! Glad you figured it out- that is pretty creepy!
Oh, I saw your message and I will wait for you call! I am glad that it is going to work out! Connor cant wait to play with big boy Hayden! I cant wait to catch up with you!
Tara
Carrie- I would like to reserve a spot for you to pluck mine. I’ve seriously coveted your brows and many of yours that are reading (ha). Mine are SO blonde and sparse it’s hard to get any shape!!
lol!! You gals are so funny! Hey Carrie, reserve a regular appt. for my daughter Megan after she graduates in May and moves back here! She would be glad to be a regular customer! And my 15 yo son Kaleb has a uni-brow and is humiliated by it but won’t let anyone touch it! So he wears his hair over his eyes, good excuse, huh?
Ohhhh, your in luck!! I need mine done badly and I am going into the hospital next week!! ha ha!! I would pay you to do mine!! You could just do my whole face if you felt like it! Let me clarify, not plucking my whole face, but doing my make-up, your face ALWAYS looks so perfect! SO………….. what do ya say?!?! Ok serioulsy, no pressure!
Cute post!!
Carrie this is so funny! I always credit you as the person who developed my fascination with perfect eybrows. I can still remember you making me sit on the bathroom counter so you could trim my eyebrows. Who knew? My eyebrowist (is that a word?) is now on speedial. Nothing makes me feel better than getting my eyebrows done. Nicely shaped eyebrows can change the whole look of your face. I think an eybrow/plucking ministry is a GREAT idea!! My mom always make me promise that when she is older that I will make sure any and all unsightly hairs are plucked. Imagine how great to have someone to talk to and make you feel beautiful at any age!!
once again, i can’t believe this conversation is actually happening. i feel like i’m getting a little dumber each moment.
hahahahaha…jason…this is why you’re a boy and we are girls.
I am LAUGHING out LOUD at all these comments…hilarious!! ummm…I seem to forget to pluck my eyebrows and then I’ll look in the mirror and think “AHh…I need to pluck!” Great pic by the way!!
heather, i almost lost it when you said I could do your whole face…glad you clarified!! i’ll bring my tweezers to the hospital next week!
jason, you know you love my brows!
Lori, you have inspired me for another post…boys and uni-brows…why they need to pluck, too!
And Mom, LUV you too. thanks for the good brow example you have set before me!
this is ridiculous!
i mean seriously, this is a hotter topic than potty training and hilary clinton
About the TV alarm. My teenager Amanda uses it. She started last year. It has been such a relief for me. I would come home many times to take her to high school (after taking the 2 younger ones) to find her still in bed. I started calling her on the way home after that just make sure she was up. I don’t have to do that anymore since she discovered the TV alarm. It gives me peace of mind.
The funny thing happened today. I found myself alone last night with 3 on missions trip and one at grandparents(don’t get envious I sure didn’t like it; I was even scared). This morning I was leaving to go get 2 at the airport and I heard something upstairs. It was Amanda’s TV. Glad it was daylight or I might have peed in my pants.
LOL Linda
carrie- I have to do a lot of plucking . I have a funny story for you about it. I will have to tell it to you in person
kristen
I love reading Jason’s comments on here. Hilarious, I am sure for him!
I love your moms comment, it sounds like something my mom would say!!!
And Jason…..he sounds like Trevis. When we were dating, and i cared, I would pluck T’s unibrow, but now I guess im soooooo in love that I dont even notice it! hehe.
I totally agree on feeling so FRESH after plucking my eyebrows. I may not have bathed that day, but my eyebrows are ready to go!!!
GREAT POST!
I have laughed out loud at Jason’s comments. I must concur that I would love some plucking advice and may try the TV alarm as I am such a TV fanatic.
um, i lived with Carrie in college and my most vivid memory is her teaching me to pluck my eyebrows with her huge magnifying mirror with a built in light. She would sit on the couch for hours just plucking away. If she wasn’t in the architect building, she was plucking. he he! my daughter now has my husbands unibrow so I will be teaching her plucking basics soon….although i wonder if they do electrolisis on a 2 year old?
by the way….the best place to pluck is in the dressing rooms at the GAP. bring some tweezers with you next time you go to the mall
i LOVE all your comments…soooo funny! i am working on some lessons for you all.
Okay, I just had to go through the comments when I saw there were 25 comments on eyebrow plucking and tv alarms. I think I just spent more time reading these comments than I’ve spent in my entire life plucking my eyebrows. It’s probably obvious, too, but oh well. Mine are pretty light, so I think I can get away with it. I’m with Audrey, I’ve always coveted all you girls with dark eyebrows, but now that I realize the amount of plucking that goes with them. . . I may reevaluate my coveting!
Hey Carrie! I’m moving back to Nashville in May and I HATE doing my eyebrows! So I guess we’re gonna have to get to know eachother a little better. By the way, I enjoy reading your blogs.
Plucking my eyebrows is one of my favorite things to do too!!!
only CARRIE! and, jason- i DO know that you love some clean eyebrows.. i can remember you even talking about something like that when we were sophmores! i won’t go any further, that is not for the blog… anyways…
come do mine this week..miss you!
This is great…I think you may have just found your new calling. So, what are you going to call this business?? “Just Plucky”…”Plunko- the new plucking game”…”Plucks R Us”…”Unibrows on the Run”…OK, I think I need to get out of the house now…
Sounds like you need to have a brow plucking party with tutorial. I just had to chime in. It’s the one thing that every woman should do that gives instant results and dramatic change. And, unlike hair it’s usually not traumatic change. This was hilarious!
ok, so advice here…. for a blonde and very sparse eyebrow girl like me, what do I do? i’ve had them professionally “managed” before but i don’t feel like it’s worth it FOR ME just because of how blonde mine are anyway. i’ve tried a brow pencil and it seemed so dark and drawn in looking even though the color description was “blonde”. any suggestions?
Hey Audrey, I am of the opinion, embrace the blond, be glad you don’t have to pluck too often and just love what God gave you! Besides, from your picture I can tell you are beautiful and no amount of added eyebrow will change that!
i was just going to say that you two should love your brows and be happy not to have to pluck! good words Shin! something i do sometimes is rub my eye pencil over the brow hairs to make them look darker. that may help. but i agree with Schelijn…you are beautiful!
ohh…and Ashley…i was cracking up at your names…who knew this would be such a hot topic!
Now who is Schelijn and make sure she knows she’s my new best friend.
Carrie- this string of comments is amazing… i love it. Audrey, Schelijn is in Colorado, and she will be so honored to know you have claimed her as a friend on some peice of fashion/cosmetic advice. She is a self-proclaimed lost cause in the area. Hah! (She is also my sister which is why i can say that.) LOVE the post/comments…
OK if I am in the hospital plz don’t come and pluck my brows.
Ouch! I dread this chore and it hurts me!! As you may notice sometimes I don’t do it often b/c I don’t like it! But it sounds like you have alot of customers in line waiting to be tortured! Haha! Guess some ppl enjoy it
