I rarely watch the news except when I work out at the Y. Today I saw BREAKING NEWS flash across the TV on one of the machines in front of me while I was on the elliptical. (I was watching Reba) I changed the channel to the news to see that four captives were rescued in Colombia. I was instantly intrigued. It is so amazing to me that I am just working out and going about my day when so many in this world are fighting for their lives. I am so grateful to be in our country that obviously still values God’s heart and his ways despite all the corruption. The whole time I was watching the story I was thinking about the parable in the Bible about how the Shepherd would leave the ninety-nine sheep to go find the one. I think it is a noble and godly thing that our country values the lives of the three Americans that had been held captive so much that they would take so much planning and time to bring them home. So many of our soldiers have left this country with the very same heart and mind. They have left the 99(people like me) who are safe and are going to help the ones who are not.
I know the parable is talking about the lost. But I also see the heart of God in it. He cares not only about the group as a whole but also has deep concern and interest in each one. I am grateful that our country values that as well. Thank you God.

I had similar thoughts when I saw this story! It certainly is a GREAT country we live in- THE BEST!
I love America! For all her ills and bad decisions, which seem to be escalating I can still say with all confidence that this is truly the greatest nation in the world. Megan and I were just talking yesterday, as we leisurely floated on rafts in a pool (my point exactly) about why God chose to let us be born in such a nation as this one. I am truly grateful! Traveling overseas also allows one to appreciate coming back home to this clean, amazingly lush and beautiful and relatively considerate country!
I thank in my heart every soldier who has ever offered their service to this nation and I thank the Lord for His goodness to us!
